THE VILLA MARTINI
The villa is situated above the port and train station of Varenna and is the former residence of a Milanese architect and art dealer from the 1960s. It is a quiet and stylish accommodation for relaxation and unwinding, offering wonderful panoramic views and just a 12-minute walk to the center of Varenna. It has been carefully and sustainably renovated, with original furnishings being reused wherever possible.
All apartments are lovingly furnished, as we also use them ourselves.
The large garden (approx. 8,000 sq m) with its wonderful old trees, olives, lemons, camellias, azaleas, etc., and much-praised views, is usable in its upper section (not yet completely renovated) and offers a great deal of privacy with numerous beautiful, secluded spots for relaxation, including hammocks, swings, sun loungers, reading nooks, and much more. A large terrace with lounge furniture and a well-equipped barbecue (gas, wood, smoker), as well as another dining area (also with a smaller barbecue), both offering wonderful views, are perfect for enjoying a sundowner or other refreshing moments.
The villa is flanked at a considerable distance by two other villas. There are no neighbors below the otherwise fenced property. All essential shops, from grocery stores and a post office with an ATM to car and Vespa rentals, are nearby. A small carport (suitable for an E-Class Mercedes, height comparable to a Mercedes Vito), a wallbox charging station, and an electric Vespa are available upon request. The villa is accessed via 100 steps through the picturesque garden.
The charming town of Varenna, with its vibrant atmosphere, can be reached on foot in about 12 minutes via an old cobblestone path (longer uphill depending on your fitness level). There is excellent access to the lake and surrounding area by ferry and train. Shops are nearby, and a famous hiking trail runs right past the house. Swimming, sports, and cultural activities are all available in the immediate vicinity.
